"Die 10 Sonaten für Violine & Klavier" im Zyklus mit 4 Abenden. Abend 1: "In Überfluss und hinreißender Schönheit prangt die Natur..." Sonaten Nr. 1/5/8 Zum Zyklus Mit der zyklischen Aufführung der vollständigen Beethovensonaten gehen für die beiden Musiker des Duo Appassionata, Isabel Steinbach, Violine und Pervez Mody, Klavier, ein Traum und eine Aufgabe gleichermaßen in Erfüllung. Nicht ohne Grund wird das gesamte Oeuvre oft das „Neue Testament der Kammermusik“ genannt.
Beethovens Violinsonaten zählen zu den bedeutendsten und großartigsten Kammermusikwerken seiner Zeit: Von Beethoven noch als „Sonaten für Pianoforte und Violine“ betitelt - mit der Violine als begleitendes Instrument konzipiert - vertieft der Komponist die von Mozart eingeläutete neue Ära dieser Gattung. Im Laufe dieses Wandels stellt Beethoven die Violine als zunehmend gleichberechtigten, in der 9. Sonate gar überlegenen Partner neben das Klavier. Beethoven ist also Bewahrer und Revolutionär gleichermaßen; er geht wie immer keine Kompromisse ein und entwickelt somit stringent und logisch seine eigenen Ideen, wodurch er der Gattung der Sonate zu neuer Blüte verhilft. Auf eine chronologische Reihenfolge der Sonaten im Laufe der vier Konzertabende wird bewusst verzichtet. Vielmehr entwickelt das Duo für jedes der Konzerte eine eigene Dramaturgie. Erläuterungen zu den Hintergründen der Sonatenkompositionen runden die Konzertabende ab und bieten zudem einen Einblick in Beethovens Kompositionswerkstatt.
